The Lego BTS set has been revealed, and if you hear high-pitched squealing like in Little Miss Sunshine, I'll try to stop. But nothing is a sure thing.
The 749-piece "Dynamite" set shows all seven members of the K-pop supergroup chilling out on the video set of their big single, which broke YouTube's 24-hour record with over 100 million views in 2020. It also became the video on YouTube with the most comments ever.
The kit, which was made by two fans who are 20 years old, has very cute Lego models of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook wearing their clothes from the music video. I can't stop looking at V's little waistcoat outfit. They are spread out among small, buildable sets of pastel-colored, 1970s-style places like a retro burger and doughnut shop, an ice cream truck, a record store, a basketball court, and the all-important discothèque with its huge DISCO sign. A short BTS stage is also included.
You can put RM with turquoise hair in a record store full of Lego "Dynamite" records, send Jungkook to raise that donut toast, or let V dance next to the ice cream truck.
Just a few days ago, Lego gave a hint on Twitter about a BTS release. The BTS set was not made by their record label BigHit or their management company HYBE. It's part of Lego's Ideas platform, where anyone can submit their own set designs and others can vote on whether or not they should be made. Josh, an artist from Indiana who is 20 years old, and Jacob, a BTS fan from New York who is 21 years old, worked together on the "Dynamite" set. When 10,000 people looked at their idea on the Lego Ideas website, Lego gave it the green light.
In a Lego news release, Jacob said, "Josh did the building and design work, and as a huge BTS fan, I told him what needed to be in it and what details were most important."
Josh said in a statement, "Jacob knew about BTS, so he was able to steer my build in the right direction." "I watched the music video over and over again, trying to capture its spirit in Lego bricks."
The "Dynamite" BTS Lego set will be sold for US$99.99 (£89.99 / €99.99) on Lego's website and in stores starting in early March 2023.
